Smūли were directed at facilities described as suppliers of components and electronics for Russian weapons systems, as well as at a major refinery serving Russia’s domestic fuel market. The repeated strikes on the Proton plant and Saratov refinery demonstrate continuing pressure on Russian military-industrial and energy infrastructure. Russia, however, reported casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure in Saratov.
Kas nutiko
During the night of November 6–7, explosions were heard in Oryol and a fire broke out at the Proton-Elektroteks plant following a missile attack. Regional authorities declared a missile danger, and Governor Andriy Klychkov said production facilities in the Soviet district of Oryol suffered partial damage without identifying the company. This was the second reported attack on the Proton plant in less than three weeks.
That night, Ukrainian drones also attacked Saratov, where a fire broke out at the Saratov Oil Refinery. Governor Roman Busargin reported damage to civilian infrastructure and casualties. More than 40 explosions were reported in Saratov and Engels, and the Russian Defense Ministry said air defenses intercepted and destroyed 411 drones across ten Russian regions, occupied Crimea, the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea. A large fire also erupted at a lubricants and polymers depot near the Almaz defense plant in Rostov-on-Don, covering about 8,000 square meters.
Kaip apie tai rašo Ukrainos šaltiniai
Ukrainian coverage emphasizes the military-industrial role of the Proton plant, particularly its production of components for Russian ballistic missiles, aviation missiles and air-defense systems. It also presents the General Staff’s claim that the October 23 strike destroyed the plant’s main microchip workshop as context for the renewed attack. The scale of the overnight drone attacks and reported interception of 411 drones are highlighted alongside fires at Russian industrial and energy facilities.
Kuo skiriasi pranešimai
Russian officials described the damage at the Oryol enterprise as partial and did not identify the affected company. Ukrainian military claims and other reporting identified the Proton-Elektroteks site and said its microchip workshop was damaged or destroyed. The information available at the time of publication regarding the precise target of the Oryol attack was therefore provisional.
Kontekstas
The Proton industrial cluster in Oryol comprises two electronics plants, one producing optoelectronics and the other power semiconductors. Proton-Elektroteks manufactures semiconductor devices, light-emitting diodes and electronic components for industrial and specialized equipment. Its products are used in the Iskander-M ballistic missiles, S-71 Kover aviation missiles and Pantsir-S1 air-defense systems. The plant was previously attacked on October 23, when the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said its main microchip-production workshop had been destroyed. The Saratov refinery belongs to Rosneft and is among Russia’s oldest oil-processing enterprises; an ASTRA OSINT analysis identified it as one of the targets hit in Saratov.
